Doodale Cottage
One of the many attractions when we bought Barr Farm in 2008 was the ‘little barn’. Like the main farmhouse it is a grade II listed building. Sadly it was in a poor state of repair. The roof leaked. In the summer months the swallows flew in and out of the broken window in the gable end. I think it was fair to say that it was by far the biggest eyesore in the conservation area of Old Malton. However it had huge possibilities for conversion into a separate unique cottage. The local planning and conservation officers indicated that they would support a sympathetic conversion. After spending several years getting approval, the building project finally started in 2012. In July 2014 our first guests came to stay in Doodale Cottage.
